Tongue Tie Release

I am needing some encouragement and feel like the worst mother ever. I was convinced that releasing tongue tie and lip tie would help my son feed better. He is 11 weeks and was feeding with a nipple shield pretty well, but didn't latch well without it. We saw a pediatric dentist and she made a strong case so we went ahead with lazer. My son screamed and has been super fussy and struggling to latch. I'm afraid I made a terrible decision and tortured my son for no reason. Does anyone have success stories and or encouragement?
