Should I take my 3 year old to my MILs funeral?

My mother in law passed away suddenly yesterday. We are organizing the funeral and I really am unsure if I should take my 3 year old. She will not understand what’s going on, and if it’s open casket there’s a good chance she’s going to get upset because she can’t hug her or interact with her. I’m really scared it will traumatize my her. On the other hand, that was her grandmother and she should be given the opportunity to say goodbye. What have all of you done in similar situations?
