Dominant hand determined at 2 months?

Hey Mamas,
My 2 month old keeps sucking on her left hand and uses it more in interaction. Does that mean this will be her dominant hand?
Did your baby do this too and ended up being the dominant hand?
Just curious! Thanks! ❤️

They don’t normally have a ‘dominant hand’ at such a young age and should use both hands equally. If your little one is using one hand more than the other there could be another reason. Keep an eye on it and get in touch with your HV if it continues x

My daughter always used her left hand until she was 1.5 when she was eating or trying to grab something & then she was in the hospital & they assumed she was right handed & put the IV & the board on her left arm & she wasn’t able to use it for 6 days & after that she started using her right hand so idk if it would’ve changed on its own or now but now she uses both equally, she’s 2.5

Dominant hands at such a young age is usually a sign that something is going on. I would get it checked out.

Dominant hands don’t distinguish themselves until later in life. Pretty sure between 1-3.

My girls favored their left hands when they were small. They are both right handed now at 2.5 and 1. I did notice my oldest throws with her left hand though. I don’t think you will know until they get to a year old at the earliest.
