Tummy time tips!?

Hi Mamas! 🙋🏻‍♀️
Any tips for tummy time!? My son is not a fan and now he’s getting a flat spot cause he rather be laying down 😭😖

Get a piece of cardboard and put it down on the floor. Lie your baby on top with their tummy down. Gently slide the cardboard forward and back. I started doing this with my baby and she loves it. She holds her head up and checks everything out as she sleds around the room. It’s also supposed to give them the sensation of crawling.

Even one minute counts as something! So don’t beat yourself up if baby is not a fan. Just do what you can and eventually build up to him doing tummy time for longer periods. Just put him down there whenever you can ☺️ Toys or a mirror in front of baby can help keep his attention. Starting out with baby laying on your belly can help too like the other ladies said. Also, don’t let baby cry while doing it just to get time in, it’ll build a negative association. Good luck!!

My daughter didn’t like tummy time at first so we started doing it on our chest everyday like PP said and interacting with her that way. Now she loves tummy time and she has this blanket with baby owls on it we lay her on and she sits there babbling to the owls 😂
It just takes time and patience. Try doing it for just a minute or two on your chest several times a day.

I’m having a similar problem. I second the chest thing but also have found my son loves to hold his head up when I have him on my shoulder or when he’s sitting up to burp. Basically trying to get in more practice with holding his head up. The downside is that his arm strength is pitiful and I’m not sure how to improve that. Toys and things of interest haven’t worked for us.

I try to mix tummy time up still. We use her mat. Sometimes I place the little pillow it came with under her chest to extend tummy time. We have a light a musical toy that we play in front of her and she likes to watch it, put a mirror in front of them too. Other times during the day we have her on our chest for a while in front of a window if possible so she can see out. You can also carry them in tummy time position. I also try to carry my girl so that she’s up facing my shoulder so that she’s not just leaning the back of her head on my arm. Although I still feel like my girl has a bit of a flat spot and I’m pretty diligent of doing tummy time.

I just recently bought some toys that light up and make noises and music. And he’ll be so happy to do tummy time with them there.
Otherwise he cracks it pretty quickly.
Also after a bath he is super happy doing tummy time

Every awake time after feeding I do playtime (time on back) and then tummy time when he is getting a bit fussy on his back but not totally miserable. I have a mirror for him to look at, I will shake his o ball rattle if he’s still fussy, and pat his but if that’s not working. Also I try to point him in the direction of his siblings because he loves watching them.

My LO hates tummy time, unless it's on our chests. He lasts about 2 minutes before he is in full meltdown mode when on the floor. We just keep trying. Our daughter was the same way so I know he will get used to it eventually.

Get down in your tummy in front of baby and interact. They need tummy time to strengthen their necks and backs it helps them to sit up and stuff later. They aren't all gonna like it but it needs to be done
