Which doctor?

My son is 8 months. For his 6 month check up he was unable to see his regular doctor (she was out on maternity leave.) I really liked the other doctor we had. When I scheduled his 9 month check up, they asked if I wanted to schedule it with doctor. I was tempted to say yes, but ended up making it with his normal doctor. I just felt more comfortable with her since she has seen him since he was a week old.
I’m just curious as to if you would have made an appointment with the new doctor or regular.

I had the same pediatrician for first 4 months. Then on next appointment, he was so backed up so they offered us to see the other doctor. We agreed and ended up loving him even more. I had zero intention to stop seeing his original doctor but I just really loved this other one. So we have been going to him ever since. If he’s ever backed up, I’ll have no issues going back to the original but I am happy I made the switch.

We’ve seen multiple providers at the pediatrician since our daughter was born, she’s 6 months next week. We definitely like some more than others, but overall we’ve been pleased with all of them. If you have one that you really like better, don’t feel bad about it! Providers understand that fit is important too, especially when it comes to your kid.

I just switched pediatricians. I have nothing against the one who has seen him since birth (she was the dr on call from when I gave birth and I was frankly too overwhelmed to switch to who we had planned on taking him to based on a friends recommendation) but I always leave appointments thinking 1) I feel like a number 2) she didn’t give me much info or ask more than the basics 3) she is not invested in more than the numbers, no getting to know me or the baby. So we just today scheduled his 1 year appointment at a new practice.

I’ve had to switch doctors for my son 4 times. Once was because his pediatrician moved out not state, then we moved, first doctor was terrible so I tried another one, we moved again. The doctor we have settled on is my absolute favorite. You have to go with someone you’re comfortable with and trust.

I voted normal doctor because I misread your post, I thought you said you were more comfortable with the normal doctor. I’d follow your gut and go with the doctor you want to see. Trust me they have so many patients they will not take it personally or anything.

The ped that saw our son at birth when we saw her out of the hospital we were not comfortable with her at all and took a chance and went with my gut. We adore our new ped and it’s been 3 years of seeing her now. I think you should call and change it. Then at your appointment bring the dr up to speed on anything and everything discussed with the previous ped.
