LO asking for food then not eating it
So my LO (3 yr, 8 mo) has always been a great eater and like normal sometimes her appetite is more sometimes less but always good overall. I don’t stress when she’s eating less because it’ll change in a few weeks back to eating a lot. But the past month or so she’s often been asking me for specific food then when I make that food she’ll take like three bites and say she’s done or doesn’t want it 🙄 I’m not stressing about her not eating it, she’ll eat when she’s hungry but it’s frustrating to make food over and over (we eat mostly fresh food) just to have her not eat it. I don’t love wasting my time or throwing food away (sometimes I save it sometimes it gets thrown). We’ve had some talks about making sure she actually wants food before asking but it hasn’t really changed anything and it’s not all the time so I don’t know when she actually is going to eat her food or not. I’m unsure if I should get more strict about things to really try to teach her or just let it go completely and ignore it. She tends to act more like a 5 yr old in a lot of ways so sometimes I have to remind myself she’s still really young. Any thoughts??
ETA: this is often for mealtimes, like for breakfast she’ll ask for eggs and toast or oatmeal or something and then won’t want it after I make it. Dinner is just what I make but if she asks for something specific for breakfast or lunch I make it for her. But it’ll happen with snacks too - she’ll ask for snack and I’ll make an avocado and she won’t eat it all or open a yogurt and she’ll eat two bites. It happens all around randomly but often lately
