Tried to ask for a day off and was rejected
Hello, I’m 30+5 pregnant and have a job as a caregiver working from 6-2. My contract states I work 4 days on and two days off. However, I’m being called in on my days off and not allowed to have my entire days off s. For instance, my supervisor asked me to come in an extra day tomorrow making it five days rather than four. Meaning I will only have one day off for the entire week.
I’m just exhausted mentally and physically from being on my feet as well as having severe anemia. I walk the halls dizzy and in a haze because I haven’t eaten that day or got enough sleep the night before. Is it so bad I wanted a couple days off? When I haven’t had two days off in two weeks?
Well I tried calling out and my supervisor told me being tired wasn’t a reason to call out and that my other supervisor needed my help. Apparently there’s no one else to cover my shift and my other supervisor has worked these two days and is exhausted. So I guess I’m the villain for asking for a day off indirectly forcing my other supervisor to work…like uh I’m sorry that’s how it plays out?
They’re training new people and have trained people to work my shift. Somehow they can’t find anyone at all to cover me tomorrow. What gets me is tomorrow is supposed to be my day off anyway. It’s not even my scheduled day?! Yet my supervisor is acting like it is and I have no choice but to come in. I need help ;/
