Adjusting to daycare

An

So today was my sons (2.5 yrs old) first day back at a regular daycare (he had been staying with my mom at her in home daycare since covid started last year). When I dropped him off he was fine, he didn’t cry until after he noticed I was gone. I called like 3 hrs later to check up on him and they said he had a potty accident right after I left when he started crying, I’m assuming it was cause he was scared but they told me he was fine already. When I went from him the director told me he had a rough afternoon cause he had 2 more potty accidents. He knows how to let you know when he has to go but sometimes you have to remind him and I let them know about it in the morning. His teacher said that she would ask him but he’d say no. He started crying when he saw me. He threw a huge tantrum cause he saw they didn’t give me back him backpack, cup or blanket. It was a struggle to get him in the car and then he cried practically the whole way home. After he calmed down I asked if he liked it, he said yes and that he liked his teacher too. When I asked if he wanted to go back he said no and I asked why and he said because he was crying. I told him it’s okay for him to cry and he said okay. When I asked later on if he wanted to go back to “school” he said yes. How long do you think this adjustment to daycare will take? It gives me so much anxiety knowing he had a rough day. I cried the way home cause I felt so bad
