Can I ask for induction?

So, I normally would not consider this but once I realized the nearest hospital is 1hr45min away, I’m wondering if I will even make it to the hospital to have my baby! One of my greatest fears is having a baby in a car. This is my second baby, which means that this birth will be even quicker than my first 😬

My birth center is between 1.5-2 hours away. Most women have an average labor of 8-12 hours or more. You can be in early labor for days. 
My midwife gave my husband a crash course on what to do in the (extremely unlikely) event that my labor goes quickly and I do end up giving birth on the way. They were adamant that they’ve never had that happen in the 10+ years they’ve had patients from my town (again, up to 2 hours away) and are not at all concerned about it. Yes, it can happen, but it’s extremely unlikely.

Not necessarily quicker, you’ll probably have enough time to get to the hospital but you’ll need to go in before your contractions get too close together.
In all cases, doesn’t hurt to ask but generally, they won’t do an elective induction before 39 weeks.

I had elective inductions with both of my children. My doctor asks at my 38 week appointment when I want to do. I’m currently pregnant with my third and I will most likely be induced this time around as well. Both of my labors were fast and easy

My ob starts setting up elective inductions starting at 38w So it might be worth mentioning soon. With my second my entire labor start to finish was 1hr and never saw that coming whereas my first was 14hrs start to finish.

I asked for one. This is my third and we don’t want to risk it also my second waited till 41 weeks to come out 😂

Talk to your OB but the hospital near me will only let you request induction if you’ve already had a successful one. So like my first was a medically necessary induction so I was allowed to be induced with my second. I opted out but I live much closer to the hospital.
