The Daycare Debacle

I just want to cry right now. In our city, daycare is a LUXURY. I mean I’m talking, if you don’t get on a waitlist the DAY you have sex, you’re not getting your kid into daycare. It’s seriously so backed up that they have closed daycare waitlists until 2022 and 2023, and daycares are charging outrageous fees to get your name on the WAITLIST.

I had made the effort to get ahead of everyone by reserving a slot in February when I was like three months pregnant, for a November slot when my maternity leave ends and come to find out yesterday I was removed from the waitlist for no reason! It wasn’t malicious I’m sure, it was likely a glitch in the system, but now I’m behind 35 other people on this list, and scrambling to find anyone that will let me onto theirs in the meantime.

I’m exhausted. I’m tired. I’m trying to find in home daycares with friends with no luck. It’s just madness out here.

So now I’m going to get a milkshake and cry for a bit before the hunt continues. Wish me luck ladies!! 😭
