Anesthesia on toddlers ????

My 4 year old has 2 cavities and will have two teeth removed , I made a huge mistake and now she has to get put under anesthesia to be able to do the procedure , It’s 1 as right now and I’m absolutely terrified, I’m crying , reading about kids that have died due to the anesthesia, Mind you all im 9 months pregnant so this whole thing is giving me horrible anxiety , She will be having the procedure done tomorrow at 9 am but I feel like I might possibly faint if I see or hear my child crying without me being able to be in the room with her , has anybody had children get out under ??? Can you all please tell me your experience I need to ease myself mind I can’t even eat or sleep I’m just so scared for my little girl

My sisters two year old had to be put out. She was perfectly fine. She acted drunk for a few hours so be careful 😂 she’ll be okay 😊

My son has been put under anesthesia 3 times - when he was 2.5 years old, 4.5 years old, and 8. Each time went super smooth and there were no issues. They even put him under with the gas mask over his face first so he didn’t have to be awake when they put in the IV. It’s hard because we are programmed to worry about our babies, but try not to stress! Every experience I had with my son, the anesthesiologists were wonderful. They came in to talk to me before the procedure to explain the process and answer questions. Use that opportunity to ask any questions you have and express your concerns. They’ve done it hundreds of times and are used to people being nervous. I’m sure they can help put your mind at ease. Prayers for you and your little one! ❤️

I worked as an OR nurse for 28 years. I took care a a lot of children in the OR. It will be fine; try not to worry as your child will get their queues from you as to how to act.

My daughter had to go under when she was about 2 when she had to get ear tubes in. I was nervous but she did totally fine! Hugs mama!

My son had to go under for a medical issue. He went under no problem. He came out no problem. He was about 2. When he came out they brought him out to me and I got to hold him until he was awake. He just sat on my lap and drank some juice. There was no fighting. No stress. The rest of the day he sat on my husband's lap watching movies with him. He's now 8 and is happier than ever. It'll be ok.

It will be fine - dentist do this all the time and are trained for this. Plus it will be less traumatic than her being awake for these procedures. I used to work at a dentist office and a lot of people have dental anxiety due to things that happened when they were younger. 
To help prevent this in the future, please talk to her dentist about best ways to help her learn to brush her teeth and foods to avoid that can be cause such decay. Most dentists won’t judge but would love to help you and her learn from this so it doesn’t happen again. There are fun ways to teach her to brush her teeth, to have you help her, etc. Plus gummy snacks should be avoided or have her teeth brushed afterwards. Or avoid giving her full strength juice or juice before going to bed without brushing her teeth - juices are is full of sugar and are bad on teeth.

Just had my son under anesthesia for a tooth pull. His on front tooth fused together with the tooth next to it and was growing in all wrong. I won't lie it was not a pleasant experience. Be ready for lots of tears. You have to hold them down while they go under the anesthesia and it's honestly one of the worst things I've had to experience with my son. He was so scared, he was shaking so hard and all you can do is hold them down. And when he came our of it he was angry and tearful and just obviously not himself. But, I still would have rather done it that way then to have to hold him down while they pulled the tooth out and he be awake the whole time. I was lucky enough to have my fiance with me that day and we leaned on one another. I'm a softy though. And pregnant, so emotions were Definitely high. Stay strong momma.
