Advice from an RN for postpartum

If you know you will be supplementing, tell the rns when they ask right away. Don't say you're going to "see what happens" or "try only breastfeeding first" if you know you won't produce enough.
A lot of pressure gets put on nurses about their "count" of breastfeeding mothers, so if you say you want to and then it doesn't work, their count gets ruined. That's why you will get a lot of pressure to solely breastfeed if you say that's why you're doing.
I know there are ppl from many countries on here, but this is how it works in most hospitals in the U.S.
I personally will want to be supported since I have trouble breastfeeding because of pcos. That's why I will start out letting them know that. I know my baby will be okay because they won't be starving, and that they'll still be getting some of the good stuff from me. :)
