S/O hates baby talk?

My S/O hates when I use baby talk. I try not to do it, but I’ve been working with very young kids so long as a teacher, that sometimes it slips out(ex. Using the word blankie instead blanket). 
Yesterday we were kissing￼ and he pulled back and just stopped I could see something was wrong and thought it was my breath(hadn’t brushed my teeth yet) so I apologized and said I’d go brush my teeth. That’s when he tells me he hates the baby/kid talk. I honestly have no idea when it happened/what I said. I explained that I don’t mean it and sometimes it just happens but I feel really hurt whenever he brings it up.

I get what he’s saying, I hate it too. It’s not personal, it just sounds very immature or unintelligent which is hard because I’m very attracted to someone’s intelligence. Plus, I’ve never seen the point in teaching children words that aren’t correct when they are sponges for learning speech at this young age. Otherwise, you’ll have to teach them later on when it’s harder to grasp because their brains are closing off to it. 
There are exceptions, With a child with speech delays, it is better to teach  easier words just to get them going. Then go more in depth once they “get their footing”
Baby talk tone drives me nuts but it’s been proven by numerous pediatric therapists that it helps a child’s development. So I’ve learned to do it and tolerate it. Maybe talk to him about the benefits of doing it with young children?

I don't like it either. I don't even baby talk my kid. I've always used and properly pronounced the words I say to her. The reason why I don't is because My step sister super baby talked my first nephew to the point it fucked up his speech for a bit until she caught on she's the one saying the words and taught him to say them wrong lol. Like blankie and baba and instead of penis it was "turdoo" wtf ever that means. 😂

In my eyes you were probably this way when you met. If it bothers him that bad then why didn’t he bring it up in the beginning?!?!

I don’t think you should feel hurt. He’s letting you know it bothers him. If you prefer to talk to way, then you need to talk to him about it and determine if it’s something he can get over. However, I don’t blame him, I would be very put off by it, especially in intimate moments. I think you can work with kids and not use baby talk. I don’t work w kids, but have two and don’t use baby talk.

Maybe he didn’t mention it because he didn’t want to hurt your feelings. It does get annoying though cause my fiancé’s mother does it often with our son. 
I just ignore it, but dear god if I hear stinkers one more time I will scream.

We never used baby talk with our kids as it delays speech and is harmful in the long run. I think you should look into the science behind why it's bad since you do work with other people's children. I honestly wouldn't take my kids to a place that uses baby talk. We turned down two places because they had staff that used it while we were on tour of the places. Ugh. As far as your partner goes, have a chat with them about why it's an issue now and not before, there may be more to it than just that and it's the tip of the iceberg sort of thing or maybe the baby talk got worse or something. Best to know their full side of it and then take some time to calm your emotions about it and look at it with validity to their words and see if it's something you want to change, can change, or if not what to do next

I talk to the dogs a lot in baby talk and sometimes forget that I'm with adult. I don't want to appear to be completely strange so I just try be more mindful of what comes out my mouth.
