Rent unaffordable in 95% of US counties: what is the solution?

🔹🔹So, let’s say there are two solutions to the housing cruising in the US (and probably most westernized countries). How do you propose the problems associated with each solution are solved?🔹🔹

🟠Solution A: increase wages to be able to comfortably afford the majority of rent in the county of residence.

However...

Problem A: increased wages lead to an increase of rent and utilities to compensate so landlords can make a profit/the problem persists.

🟢Solution B: landlords cannot arbitrarily set rent, but rent prices are set by the county government based on the minimum wage and median income level.

However...

Problem B: landlords no longer see rental property as an investment because they are not making a profit, therefor there is less of it, therefor there is more demand than there is supply.
