What not to do and what to do before an ultrasound

I'm having an ultrasound done and I don't know if there is anything that I have to do or not do before I get it done. Like can I go to the bathroom before or do I need to have a full bladder can I eat before I go. Please help

Ugh don't over fill your bladder 😒 lol I panicked, they told me drink 32 fluid oz of water before the ultrasound to have a full bladder... Well I drank an extra 16 fluid oz on top of that! I was nearly in tears I had to pee so bad!

Finally the tech was like "hmm... You should go pee" haha so my advice - don't drink TOO much! Apparently they really only need a "sorta full" bladder lolol

If the mdical professional that scheduled you did no give you instructions, then you are good to go.
I'm sure you have no problem filling your bladder tho, if the u/s tech needs your bladder full after all!
My first scan is tomorrow!

I was told to come with a full bladder. It wasn't like, painfully full or anything but I definitely needed to pee after. The tech said it was good and she was able to get some really clear pictures because of it.

They will tell you to go pee before! A lot easier to see the baby!

For the first one i wss told 1L of water an hour before the us. It hurts. Lol. But it pushes your uterus up so they can get better angles of the baby.

I was never told to go with a full bladder and actually went to pee right before my turn in the office (because it can get uncomfortable to have a full nodded while they press on your abdomen with the ultrasound probe) and they were able to see my baby just fine :)

They told me not to worry about a full bladder.  In fact my bladder was full,  and I didn't know bc the baby was blocking my ability to pee, and they had trouble finding it

With a transvaginal ultrasound you dont usually have to do anything to prep. Abdominal they usually ask you to come with a full bladder with preferably clear non carbonated drink.

They always tell me to finish drinking a litre of water an hour before the appointment. But my ultrasound technician always makes me go pee twice before she can get all of the pictures she needs.

The clearest picture is usually achieved if you limit salts and drink a lot of water beforehand, and arrive with a full bladder do they can see right through it. The normal sonograms usually don't need that much detail though so if they didn't give you instructions you should be alright.
