Do you take your 1 year old to restaurant during pandemic?

How many have you took your 1 year old to a restaurant? My soon to be one year old hasn’t been to restaurants yet, mainly because we do a lot of home cooking and hubby works way too much and it’s hard to make time. I was going to have a little get together at a restaurant on the patio for her birthday since we won’t be having a big party due to Covid and being high risk. My question is, do you think it’s a good idea? I’ll be bringing a high chair cover and disposable placement mats. Can you really prepare taking an almost 1 year old out to a restaurant?! Lol!

It’s time to move forward with life.
Don’t keep your child inside forever, they need new experiences.
Bring a little backpack for them with their favorite little toys or activities. Even little snacks you know they will eat in case they don’t want restaurant food.

We haven’t, and won’t, until she’s vaccinated. She’s nearly two. We don’t know enough about covid and what it does to the brain and body long term, and with the more contagious Delta variant around, it’s a hard pass for us.

I have and got a lot of backlash from other patrons, he was 3mo at the time and didn’t make a peep. You’d never know he was there. It’s YOUR choice!!!! I refuse to live scared or have an unsocialized baby.

Our area is back up to over 2,000 new cases a day and over 25% of those are in children. If our area was down instead of up, we’d probably be different. There are other ways to give them experiences. We’ll take her to vaccinated people’s houses. We spent 4th of July with friends whose entire family was vaccinated. They have a private lake…she got to see the fireworks and another type of home. She loved it..my MIL is full vaccinated and we’re looking to take her blueberry picking…100% outdoors and a new event. Restaurants just aren’t worth it to me. Her first birthday was during the height of the pandemic and we just had grandparents isolate for two weeks, then come celebrate. That was it. As the previous poster said, we don’t know enough about long term issues at this point. To each their own, I know friends that take their kiddos out and about. No judgement if that’s what you feel comfortable with.

Yup my 14 month old had been plenty of places. We refuse to live in fear. I want my baby to socialize and see the world.

Yep. I was taking my 7 week old to outdoor breweries, wineries, food trucks etc last summer. I’ve taken her to restaurants multiple times I think the first time we took her to actually eat she was about 6-7 months old. She’s now 16 months and handles it super well. we just wipe everything down with a sanitizing wipe and then enjoy.

If high risk I think outside at your own home is lower risk than outside in a public place.

My son is 10 months old and we’ve only gone out once or twice to places with outdoor seating.  But he did great! We brought a baby chair that slides onto the table and some snacks and toys and he was pretty happy. My husband and I are both vaccinated but since our son isn’t we still feel uncomfortable bringing him to indoor public spaces. Especially with the delta variant spreading so quickly. We are planning his birthday to be a small outside party at home!

We have, a handful of times. He did surprisingly well, he’s 19 months. 
I know it’s scary, but most places are still outdoor seating and if you’re vaccinated you’re most likely ok. No one really comes near our son at a restaurant except the server (with a mask on) and it’s always quick. 
Maybe try outdoor seating and see how it goes. Take a snack or something for your LO to play if he needs a distraction. Good luck!
