Family Involvement?

Anyone here surprised by the amount of family/friend involvement there has been with you and your LO (either not enough, or maybe too much)?  If so, how has it been going?  
I ask because I’m surprised by how little our family in the area has wanted to see the baby (non-Covid related), and this was one of the primary reasons we live where we are now.

I’m surprised at the lack of involvement. Before I got pregnant, my family really wanted us to have a baby. While I was pregnant, they all talked about how excited they were to see my daughter, visit her and babysit. Since she was born, we’ve had visits maybe a handful of time from family members. My in-laws eat dinner with us once a week, so that’s great! But no one else makes the effort to come see her.
Bonus, we invited 52 people to her first birthday party, 27 RSVP’s yes, 12 actually showed up. It’s hard not to be disappointed. Forget the fact that my husband and I haven’t gone out together (date or otherwise) since February, 2019. We also work at home full-time and provide our own childcare.

I'm honestly disappointed in his family, their crazy covid paranoid, his mother and sister live super close the only family we have in the state and they only live half hour away, and haven't even seen my son once, we tried everything, we even just wanted to drive down and drop off coffee (whole story behind that) and she could see him through the window, nope nada, she wouldn't even agree to that we've tried offering outdoor meetings, with all the bells and whistles and still nada. Then a few weeks ago she video chatted my so saying she was at Walmart but she can't come see her grandson, and I got so pissed because we don't even go to Walmart (his family is super posh, and Walmart is apparently like ghetto or something 🤷🏾‍♀️) my own family kind of is too involved, though they live across the country, almost everyone has made an effort to see him at least once, and yes most of it was socially distanced with masks, only 1 of my siblings (out of 10) came to visit me before I had the baby, my own mother said she couldn't call me because she has anxiety, now she calls on the regular just to talk. It's a very confusing situation for us.

I’ve had both. My parents and his mom and stepfather have been amazing. Fly to see her every chance they get. Even flying down just to babysit for a week!
However, my FIL lives the closest and has only met her once for dinner when we were driving through town. He rents a room and has many roommates so we would never consider staying with him. Also my sister hasn’t seemed to be involved much.
