Acute fatty liver in pregnancy (AFLP)
Hey ladies,
Just wanted to share my story, as I haven't found many posts about this.
Last pregnancy I was diagnosed with preeclampsia at 34 weeks and had to have an emergency c section at 36 weeks + 4 days. My daughter is now a healthy 3 year old and I made a complete recovery.
At 28 weeks this pregnancy my blood levels indicated above normal ALT levels. I also had pain in my upper right side of my abdomen, but after an ultrasound, blood/urine test and examination, he ruled out kidney problems and there was no protein in my urine.
I went to see a liver specialist and I have acute fatty liver in pregnancy. All the websites have a scary outcome (emergency c section asap), but doctor advised me to change my diet completely. I can't have any processed or fried foods, no fatty meat, and low fat dairy products.
It has been 4 weeks and my ALT levels have dropped dramatically. So far so good! 😊
