Does crusty nipples mean I'll be able to breastfeed with no supply issues?

I'm currently 20weeks + according to my most recent ultrasound. I've been having small crusting inside my nipples since I started the second trimester. pregnancy has done a number to my nipples. They were always on the puffy/flat side, only getting firm and pointy when simulated. Most recently I've been noticing that a lot of women have trouble producing milk right after delivering, some stating that they were never able to breastfeed. Since I'm “leaking” colostrum while still pregnant does this mean I'll be able to supply milk to my baby right away?

Milk does not come out right after birth. After birth your baby needs colostrum and it comes in a much smaller quantity than milk. It will feel like your baby is chomping on your nipples for a good 3-5 days after birth, but they are getting everything they need even if it doesn’t seem like milk as well as stimulating your body to prepare for breastfeeding. For me, this was the painful part of breastfeeding. Remember to use nipple cream between feedings, hydrate and get rest. My milk came in around day 4 after I had finally gotten in some deep sleep. I also had somewhat flat nipples and my breasts became so hard and engorged I had to pump first because my breasts were like solid rocks lol. No matter what happens after birth, just keep putting baby to the breast at least every three hours (or use a breast pump), your body is not a flip of the switch, your hormones are changing and your mental state can be just as crucial as your anatomy :) You got this!

I believe this will depend on your sense of diet and hydration. It’s very possible you will have a wonderful surplus of breastmilk but it’s also possible it can change due to lack or hydration or vitamins. Just be sure not to stimulate your nipples or try to pump before baby is here that way you don’t put yourself into labor. (Not that you insinuated that that is what you’re trying to going to try to do) I know girls who tried pumping before birth to have a breastmilk supply stocked up and it only put them into preterm labor. 😖 
My colostrum just started coming in the past 2 weeks as well. My breasts and nipples have been very sensitive, and darkening much more than before.

I’ve heard the body armor drink does wonders to mothers who struggle with producing enough milk while Breast feeding, I guess don’t knock it till you try it!

There’s no way to know. I never leaked while pregnant but had major oversupply. Some leaked and had plenty and some didn’t.

I leaked a bit during pregnancy with my last and could not for the life of me get anything out to feed my daughter after she was born. So, not necessarily.
