Anyone else?

I know this is semi normal for toddlers but it’s starting to wear on my husband. My son wants nothing to do with him when I’m around. If he sits next to him on the couch or while he is playing he will run away screaming “no daddy” and most times cry. For instance, we picked him up together from daycare and as we were walking out he went to pick him up to get him in the car and grant lost it. He screamed for me and acted like he didn’t even know his dad. It’s odd because if I am working or not here for any reason grant is fine but the second I come home it’s a complete switch. Not sure what to do at this point

The exact opposite for me. I'm home all day with my littles ones and as soon as daddy gets home he's all over him. Daddy is funnier then I am. I make him eat veggies, not watch tv, and aren't as rough as my husband. Maybe your the cooler parent 😎

100% yes to all if that. My husband is getting sad about it cause he used to be our daughters favorite. But since about April, she's been very whiney near him and clutches on to me when I try to give her to him so I can get things done. Its so weird

Same! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Rosalie has always favored me but it's on a different level now. If I'm gone for two seconds she will stop what she's doing and walk around the house calling me. If she wakes up she won't let him pick her up it has to be me. She will however seek him out for things sometimes but it's definitely lopsided. We both work full time so it's not like one spends more time than the other really, I just have always been the main caregiver. My husband is jealous and gets his feelings hurt a lot 🤷🏻‍♀️

My son prefers my husband when he’s home. He cried the entire way to speech therapy the other day because I took him while my husband took our other 2 to swimming lessons. Any time he’s sad and my husband is home, he will walk past me crying and go to his daddy. When my husband is not home, I’m just fine apparently. We both do bedtime routines, baths, etc and he doesn’t usually have a preference of one parent over the other during those times…mostly if he’s sad and crying.

My son is three and doesn’t behave like this at all. He enjoys playing with my husband, but when it comes to care stuff he prefers me (think bath time, bedtime etc.) and I think a lot of it has to do with expectations. I’m much more relaxed with my son whereas my husband is pretty strict with him. However, my son enjoys playtime with him because they can rough house and good around and mommy is kinda boring when it comes to playtime lol. I think your issue might be attention seeking behavior. If he throws a fit only when you’re around, it’s because he wants your attention. There could be a lot of reasons for this, but ultimately I think that’s what it boils down to.

My daughter has a preference of me doing things or wanting me over her dad. I think it’s because she has noticed when she talks to her dad or is wanting something she’s noticed he has no idea what she is saying and that he looks at me and I have to tell him so she chooses not to waste her time now. But also when she is tired for a nap or bed time is the only time she will push him away or throw a fit. If he picks her up and she wants me she will reach over and say “no mommy hold me” or the other way if she wants him.
