Going to ER?

I started bleeding yesterday.. I’m 4 1/2 weeks. Starting cramping today.. my OB is out until next week. I just need to know if I’m having a miscarriage.. should I go?

They will just tell you it's a threatened miscarriage and won't be able to give you any real answers. You're too early for an ultrasound so they won't even do that. Spotting and cramping is pretty common in the first trimester. Just call your doc when the office opens.

NP in ER all ER function differently we do ultrasounds however your too early to see anything …… so they will do hcg on you which isn’t helpful until you get you second one done in 48 to 72 hours…

I went that early for bleeding and they just made me feel stupid and sad and said I had a threatened miscarriage and follow up with my doctor when she opened. I totally get being anxious and wanting to know because we felt the same but they probably won’t make you feel any better. Also idk where you live but that ER trip cost me 1000 dollars so 🙃 do with that info what you will

ER wont be helpful unless it is life threatening (aka ectopic). So if you fill a pad in an hr or more pads than that then def go. Do not use tampons. I would call the OB office tho and see if someone can put in a blood test for you. Otherwise, unfortunately, it is wait and see. If you are bleeding for over two weeks also go see someone. At the stage of pregnancy there may be clots or it may be a regular period. 
There is a chance it isnt a miscarriage because there are other causes of bleeding like sex (usually last 1-3 days and is light), extra non viable material, hematoma, cyst, etc..but it is still a waiting game.

I had the same thing happen to me in Feb (4w 5d) and my OB told me to go to the ER. They took my blood, an ultra sound (didn’t see anything) and confirmed my HCG levels were really low and I was probably experiencing a chemical pregnancy. If anything, get your HCG levels checked the next few days to see if they’re increasing or dropping. Hoping for the best for you!🙌🏼

I personally wouldn’t. Do you have to see your OB?  Or do they have nurses and PAs in the office?
