So I work for a family owned business selling nutritional stuff. I am working part time there because I want to put into practice what I went to school for and start building up my resume. (I mention this Bc it relates to what I’m about to share) We get commission on some items …

Well the store I work for is ran by the dad but he’s injured so his daughter is taking over. She’s 32 and I’m 27 so roughly the same age

When she trained me I didn’t feel a good vibe from her. I like her brother, dad, and mom but something was off about her. I thought it was just me. When I got hired, the mom told me the uniform was just workout attire but it had to be black. So I wear yoga pants and black shirt with my name tag of course. The dad has never mentioned my dress code.

On Monday, the daughter told me “hey just so you’re aware you don’t have to wear leggings all the time. You’re free to wear jeans” she didn’t specify the color. So on Tuesday I came with jeans and black shirt and running shoes. She’ was with a customer and stopped me in front of the customer and said “let me see? Please don’t clock in yet..that is not professional at all” the customer looked at me from head to toe Bc obviously she brought that up in front of him and I felt so uncomfortable. She said I can wear BLACK jeans and the shirt exposed my neck a lot. It had to be loser and not show my breasts. I wasn’t showing cleavage but it was accentuating my breast I guess it was too fitted. I apologized and told her that her mom didn’t say anything so I thought it was okay. She gave me attitude and I apologized for misunderstanding. She sent me home and came back in the appropriate attire

This was the shirt I had but with black workout pants and black running shoes.

So Tuesday I walk in and had my head phones on. I do this because I listen to music while I walk into the store. I say good morning to her and she says “I didn’t know you come in with headphones to work” I didn’t know if that was supposed to be sarcastic or what? I told her “oh yeah I like listening to music to get myself pumped”

Wednesday, I work with a girl. She’s been there for 3 years so obviously she’s close to the manager. Sometimes they’re in the back office just chatting and I feel left out. They don’t really involve me.

A customer came in and she was looking for a natural detox. I recommended a product and the customer said “do you really know your stuff or do you just care about the sales” I told her I did major in nutrition and I did know my stuff but she didn’t have to buy anything. I told her that she can take pics of the product and then maybe do her own research. I was trying to be kind.

So the customer left and my manager was like “you don’t need to bring up your degree.” I told her how she was questioning my knowledge so maybe it would make her feel more comfortable.

I was scanning some products and the customer bought many things. Total was like 400 dollars. My manager told me she would scan it instead and took me off the register. When the customer left she told me “see I’m much faster”

I only work 4 hours while the other girl and other guy work 7 hours. I have 2 jobs. The manager told me I need to make more sells because my sales are low. I told her I understand but my shift is early morning and is only 4 hours long. People don’t really come in early morning. The busiest hours are from 3-8pm. I told her I do try but I don’t like being pushy. She went on saying that it just seems like I don’t care and “not social”

I am quite but I know I’m nice and I do talk to the customers.

I guess the only thing I hate is that she goes to the back office to talk to the other employees while I’m just left behind
