Anyone here a Surgical Tech?

Im considering it as an option to get back in the work force… Im 32yrs old as well. Im not sure if its one of those long term type careers or has a high turnover rate because its not really good for long term work. 
How do you like it? 
How is school? 
Is there a lot of jobs?
What is your pay for where you live(if youre open to share)?
I have been on the fence of nursing school but I have young kids and it will be years before I can go to school long enough for nursing. Where I live Surgical Tech school is 2 semesters. Nursing is 1.5-2yrs.
I have researched all this but its always better to talk to people. 
Let me clarify its 2 semesters AFTER you completed your prerequisites. I already have all my prerequisites, graduate with a Associate degree!

I’m a surgical tech and I love it! I went to a community college for 2 years and was hired by a clinical site 6 months before I graduated.

My mom is a surge tech. She went to school for 2 years at a community college I believe. She’s in her 50s now. Started on an open heart surgery team then switched to the ob working nights. She absolutely loves it and is pretty dang good at it. She said she loves ob due to being able to see the moms and babies. Something about it is calming even when she’s in surgery, she can talk to the momma and really help her if need be! She does get paid over $20/hr base plus more for working nights. She’s close to Chicago so her pay is very well for her field.

My sister is trying to go to school to be a surge tech, but she keeps hitting walls, she’s currently also trying to decide if it’s right for her, excited to see if anyone has thoughts!
