Hey mamas. Currently 36w4d and was told today I’m 50 percent effaced? Does that mean I’m dilated at all? Could I go into labor soon?

No. Effacement is not dilation. It means your cervix is thinning. Even if you started dilating you wouldn’t have to head to the hospital, you could be at 3 or 4cm for weeks before labor.

I was 1 cm and 60% effaced at 32 weeks. I was 2 cm by the time I was induced at 37 weeks for hypertension. It is something they will keep an eye on- but not an emergent thing! Just try and relax and enjoy the last part of your pregnancy!
