Can you get secondhand chickenpox?

Question

I was supposed to take my grandmother and cousin out to get school clothes tomorrow with my 17 month old son. My grandma just texted me and said my other cousin came to their house and told them how his son had chickenpox. 
Obviously I’m debating wether or not I should cancel tomorrow’s plans because I don’t want my son sick and I’m very very pregnant too. Could my son get the virus by being around family who wasn’t in direct contact?

If the answer is yes, I wouldnt worry about it. If no, stay away. I think the chance is slim of you guys catching it second hand, but better safe than sorry.

You can definitely be a carrier to chicken pox to your son. Especially, if you’ve had it or had the vaccine and he hasn’t. Even if he’s had the vaccine he can get the chicken pox. It’s very contagious and will last about 10 days. My entire kindergarten class had it and I gave it to my brothers.

Honestly with chickenpox it's actually not that bad in kids and can be dangerous in adults. And you will get chickenpox normally only once in a lifetime.

Chickenpox is very contagious, I wouldn’t be risking it especially while pregnant. It’s dangerous to get it while pregnant plus nobody wants a sick kid.
