Gestational diabetes !

With every one of my pregnancies I’ve always had GD . This pregnancy I don’t! Thankfully! But I’ve always gone thru labor getting my numbers checked constantly and baby’s as well. Does that still happen if i don’t have GD this pregnancy? What’s really different during labor? Or is there any differences besides not having to get ur numbers checked ? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question I’m honestly curious
