Am I overstepping

So usually when our daughter cries with my husband after so long he asks me to take her & she immediately quiets down. So tonight she was crying for a while I was cooking he was trying to soothe her nothing worked. I come in & just start talking to her she quiets down & goes to sleep in his arms. He eventually puts her in her rocker she stays asleep. I finished cooking & she wakes up. As she wakes up he comes in she’s not crying just looking around he goes to try to put her paci in her mouth. I see him & I calmly state if she doesn’t take it don’t force her to take it. He looks at me & says would you relax I know what I’m doing! You’re overstepping your boundaries how am I supposed to learn if you’re telling me the answers. I immediately just get quiet & say okay. She then started crying. I was just trying to avoid her getting upset & he can’t console her. We were eating dinner. But is that overstepping?!
