Confused

Me and my boyfriend have been together for 2 and a half years. We lived together throughout lockdown last year and then decided to move in together in December. It’s always been really great, we’re really good together and I love him more than anything.

In December we also decided that we would start trying for a baby. We began in April and got pregnant with the first try. At first he was really excited but now he’s become stressed and worried because of money even though we would definitely be comfortable with our earnings. He’s also got loads that he wants to do to the house as well.

He got himself a new job that pays more which he starts soon.

Because of all this pressure and stress he’s put himself under he’s now began to doubt our relationship and decided he wants to live on his own for a little while whilst he gets his head together. I’ve told him that I respect this and I’ve come back to my parents house for a while. (There are other family upsets that’s happening with him too). He says he still loves me but his head is just scrambled with everything.

I don’t really know why I’m posting this, maybe to vent or for advice I’m not sure. He’s become really excited about the baby now and cannot wait to be a dad. I came back to my parents on Tuesday, saw him on Wednesday and everything was normal with us, and then was on the phone to him just chatting for an hour last night.

has anyone else had their partners unsure of things when other issues have begun to get on top of them?

Edit to add: I’d come back to my parents too because we were getting the bathroom done and he was painting (I have asthma and paint really gets on my chest so he said it would be best me not being there especially since I’m pregnant). I went back to his house for a few days and everything was fine but then the toilet stopped working and I obviously couldn’t stay there whilst pregnant so he suggested I go back to my parents while it’s getting fixed but then said he’d like me to stay a little bit longer for him to sort himself out.
