Did your SO cut the umbilical cord with no problem?

Question

My husband is very nervous that he’s going to pass out during my c-section. He’s said the entire time that he doesn’t know if he wants to cut the cord because he’s very squeamish and is afraid it will make him pass out to feel it cut. If he doesn’t cut it, I want to. But I just wanted to know if any one else’s SO didn’t want to cut the cord, or if they said they weren’t sure and then decided to do it the day of.

My husband was exactly the same… he is very squeamish. I was worried he would pass out while I was giving birth! He was a champ though and ended up cutting the cord too 😁

My husband is actually excited to cut the cord and he wants to catch the baby and is a little disappointed that if I’m in the tub like I plan to be, he might not be able to catch him lol. 
Considering my husband has literally dissected deer heads, I don’t think cutting the umbilical cord will be a problem for him.
Personally, I don’t even want to see my placenta 😂 I’m a very squeamish person so I want to just focus on my baby, not the gross organ or gut rope that comes along with him. 😅🤣 I’m sure I won’t actually care in the moment, but the thought definitely makes me queasy sometimes.

I think I’ll end up being the squeamish one as I hate blood and have a very strong gag reflex. One of the things I’m most worried about is skin to skin immediately after birth before baby is cleaned up even tho I know how important that Is. I’m hoping baby love pulls me through and I don’t vomit on my little girl 😵‍💫

I worked as a midwife and ive never seen a partner pass out cutting the cord, there's so much adrenaline and excitement it all takes over. Also he doesn't have to decide until the time they'll still offer on the day and he can decline if he wants, they won't make a big deal of it

I had a vaginal birth and while my husband was holding 1 leg, he watched the whole birth even the bloody mess from tearing without a problem but when it was time to cut the cord he was so nervous he thought he would "mess it up" even when the doctor said it wasn't possible to so, he didn't 😂😂

The doctor asked him if he wanted to cut it and he said no. I said come on you can do it, but he wouldn’t.

My husband had no issue cutting the cord with our son, but isn’t interested at all in the idea of catching our daughter lol. The cord is a lot easier to deal with!

They didint allow my husband to cut the cord and I had all csections .

My boyfriend was nervous about it and in doubt whether he could/would do it, but did!
What perhaps helped is that we had a birth plan that we gave to the nurses in which we took
up that he thought he wanted to (but could faint 😂) and they sort of encouraged him.

I’m not sure they will allow it in a c section anyways since everything is sterile.
