High bmi ultrasounds

Does having a high bmi effect the visibility of a scan? Went for a abdominal scan today and I am supposed to be around 7/8 weeks and all we could see was the gestational sac and there was some shadowing which could have been baby but couldn’t get a good enough look at it. Has anyone else with a high bmi had the same problem? I am so paranoid and anxious now and I feel like I can’t settle! I rang the EPU and they have got me in for a vaginal scan tomorrow but tomorrow seems so long away😭😭😭
