Tips to keep tour child from falling sick after joining daycare?

Hello ladies
My kid just started daycare this week and it’s been barely 4 days and she is now sick with cold and fever.
I was told that this is common and usually expected when they first join daycare since they are not used to being exposed so much.
Is this going to happen often?
What do you mamas do to avoid getting your child sick in the daycare?
Any particular diets or supplements?

Honestly it helps build the immune system in my opinion. When my son first went to daycare he was sick left and right and I always caught whatever he had. Now he still gets sick just not as frequent. I tried elderberry syrup but it just seemed like he was getting sick more. So now I just give him the flinestone vitamin gummies and it seems to be working a little bitter.

Our oldest child got sick ALL the time when he started daycare, he constantly had a stuffy nose.  We contemplated taking him out because we were keeping him at home so much it seemed counter productive.  Our April baby started daycare at 8wks old and was rarely sick.  I anticipated the worst but he seemed to have a better immune system then his older brother.  We worked a lot on covering our coughs/sneezes, washing hands and in general clean and healthy habits.  It's so hard when they share all the toys in close spaces.  Do you know your centers cleaning policy?  We felt ours was up to par even with our 1st son getting so sick.    I'd rather have it happen now then school age when missing days then can be more detrimental to their learning.  Things will get better!!  This is very common.

My oldest got sick maybe once when he was in daycare from age 1-4. My second son (April 2019) is in a part time daycare and got RSV within the first month. Every kid is different but they need to build an immunity by getting sick. Kindof how vaccines work. 
Other than a healthy diet, I’ve heard parents giving their children elderberry to help with their immunity. You can get it from most drugstores. I would look for the ones with the least amount of sugar.

I give my daughter an elderberry supplement on top of her normal multi vitamin. Not sure if it helps, but certainly can’t hurt🤷🏻‍♀️

Kids that go to daycare get sick a lot, it’s just kind of life. Kids who don’t go to daycare will get sick all the time when they start school. It’s really unavoidable, unless you never send your kids to any kind public school. It’s rough the first 6 months to a year, but then it gets better and they are sick less often. A healthy diet is good, but really they just need to build their immune system. Your daycare should have pretty good cleaning protocols cause of covid and I guess it varies based on where you live, but my daycare requires masks for everyone 2 and up so that should help.
