Nursing Station?

I don’t know much about breastfeeding so this could be a dumb question but I keep seeing moms post about having a nursing station. Where should I set this up? I’m planning on having the baby sleep in the bassinet in my bedroom so should I have it there or should I put it in the nursery where I have my rocking chair?

I didn’t really have a “station.” It just wasn’t necessary for me. I took our kids out to the living room to nurse on the couch. Didn’t really need anything other than a burp cloth and the boppy. Our gecko has a red light at night, so I didn’t need to turn on lights or anything.

I got a rolling three tier utility cart - top shelf  was nursing supplies, water, etc., second shelf diapers, wipes and creams, and third shelf was burp cloths and blankets. It went where baby went and was easily the best $30 I spent on baby supplies.

Put it where ever you see yourself spending most of your time nursing. You can set up one big cart or 2 smaller bins that have your essentials in it. With my first I had a 3 drawer stand beside my rocking chair in my bedroom and a few things in a bin in the living room so I didn't have to run up and down the stairs to grab stuff. This time (currently 39 weeks preggo) I set up a 3 tier rolling cart that I can just move from the living room to the bedroom since we live in a single story house.

I have a lazy boy in our bedroom next to my baby’s bassinet and I have a nursing caddy on the lamp stand next to it. That’s for night time feedings. During the day I feed her in the living room, so I also have a caddy there for nursing her. I would highly recommend a caddy though because they are so easy to move if you decide you want to nurse in a different spot. Find what will help you and baby be most comfortable and this may change as baby gets older. There’s no wrong spot. I would say that keeping it close to where baby sleeps at night is really helpful for putting baby back down to sleep.

My daughter slept in a bassinet next to our bed, but I brought her to my office desk/chair in the adjacent room for night feedings, so my nursing station was set up on my desk at night.
 Honestly, my office chair is just as comfortable as any nursing chair I've tried and the desk works as a perfect nursing station.

I have a little side table I put next to my side of the bed for night time feedings with the Hatch machine, a basket full of breastfeeding supplies/supplies for baby girl.

I have mine set up next to my spot on the couch but it’s on wheels so it can move with me as needed. I used one of the those ikea three tier carts.
