Are time-outs bad?

Is it child abuse? I told my pedi that I give my daughter time outs and she wasn’t happy about it… is this child abuse?

No there is nothing wrong with having a child sit and calm down when they are upset. I would get a new pediatrician

Just went to my daughters 9 month appointment and was trying I shouldn't tell her no. I had never thought telling her no was a problem

Time outs are one of those techniques that works for some kids, but not all, also, they don't work until the kiddo is old enough (probably not until at least 2, maybe even older). There's a lot of research on giving kids breaks (like a timeout) where they can safely process their emotions, like going to a calm corner with quiet activities and a comfy chair to chill them out, but again not every child and they have to be old enough
