Is it okay to cancel the card?

So my husband has been taking money out of our personal account to pay for his mothers bills. He lies to me and tells me he gets the money from her, but this is a lie and it’s been going on for a year now. 
The bills keep getting higher and higher and at this point I’m just about to call and cancel the card he’s using for these bills. His mother does not need financial help she just spends all her money shopping (I would help her if she really needed it)
I feel this is not fair cause this money could go towards our child taking swim classes or doing some type of sport that my husband says we can’t afford right now.
I am the main person on the account he is secondary.

If anything talk about separating bank accounts. It's not all your money. You couldn't even do that if you got dovorced.

If it's our money, and I'm contributing, I'd pull out my $ and get my own account and remove myself from that one.. If it's his and I'm not contributing, then that's a bigger conversation and I wouldn't do it.

I would switch to separate accounts for extra money and keep the joint for bills and kids stuff. Have an agreement that you each get allotted so much a month for "extras". If he spends all his fun money on his mom that his on him.
