Dna test?

Has anyone got a dna test with their baby and the father? I got one done and they swabbed his cheek the baby's and mine. Why would they need to swab mine ? Also are these tests accurate? It was at a dna office and pricey.

They need both parents dna so they can accurately see which parent the genes came from. Then can rule out the ones that have come from the mother and then know which have to match the father.

It’s not uncommon for them to take samples from the mother. When conducting a DNA test at work we usually try and get a Sample from the mother, perspective father and the child in question. This can just make it easier to define each side of DNA the child has inherited.

I’m not sure but maybe it is to make it easier to compare the fathers DNA since they can already attribute half of baby’s to yourself 🤷🏻‍♀️
