When should they know?

My husband and I just found out we are expecting baby #3! Our oldest is 10 and youngest is 7. I’m torn on when we should tell them. My husband wants to tell them now, but I feel like we should wait. I’m more so worried about my youngest. I don’t think she will take it very well. She’s expressed before about not wanting a younger sibling and she is already not good about sharing her time with me or her father. How did some of y’all tell your other children?

We told our first (she was 12) the day before we started telling everyone else. That way she felt like she was in on the “secret”, but didn’t need to keep it for long at all. She would have been hurt if she found out at the same time as her grandparents.

My son is 8 years old and I told him after my first ultrasound. We sat him down and got him a nice big brother shirt and a few other gifts. He took it better than we thought. I think your daughter may not like it at first but she will come around.

My kids are 13,7,6. I told my oldest as soon as I found out. I came running out of the bathroom smiling and he wanted to know what was up. He wasn’t happy at first but he loves his baby brother. My younger two I had them find the pregnancy test. They both were so excited. My whole pregnancy wanting to see how big baby was and wanting to feel kicks. Now that he is here they could care less lol. The tables turned.

I would just tell them before you get a family member telling them for you! 
I’m a fan of presents of shirts that say big brother and big sister, even for the one who is currently the youngest. It would be a funny reaction to have as a family video if nothing else. They’ll have time to get used to it later.
