COVID positive

Kathleen

I’m slightly enraged right now.

Last Thursday I had to pick up my 15 month old from daycare due to potential exposure, his whole class was sent to quarantine for 10 days. I asked, and they said it was one of his teachers. Not even 24 hours later, he developed a fever and slight cough. Got him tested Saturday and BOOM super strong positive. Suggesting his teacher had been symptomatic for a few days at work before getting tested as it’s a minimum 48 hour incubation.

Due to his daycare not requiring masks for staff and not requiring their staff to be vaccinated, his teacher gave him COVID. Obviously it’s your choice to not be vaccinated, but when you are dealing everyday with a population that CANNOT get vaccinated since they are so young, you should be forced to take more precautions.

Now we all get to quarantine (thankfully dad and I are vaxxed) but I’m also 18 weeks pregnant. This is a scary situation for our son, me, and unborn child thanks to the daycare. I asked if they were going to re-institute a mask policy for staff since they’ve had 4 positives in the last month and they honest to goodness said they will eventually consider it. At least all the parents dropping off their kids have the decency and common sense to wear a mask there!

Update: 15 month old is doing much better 8 days into his positive quarantine. Dad is doing much better too 7 days in.

I just tested positive yesterday 😭 even with the masking at home, cleaning, distancing, it seems like it took its time showing up as I’ve only been around these two. Now starts my 10 day isolation
