Similac package I didn’t order?

Question

I just received a package of baby formula addressed to me from Similac with 3 containers of formula. It also has a bunch of coupons and stuff inside. Says “welcome to Similac StrongMoms!” I didn’t sign up for this, I breastfeed lol. I don’t know anyone who would order this for me either since I have only breastfed. Curious if anyone has received this too?

They are linked to some registries so they will automatically send it when you make a baby registry sometimes. We have moms who put it in our buy nothing group. I can’t breastfeed so I always do similac. They also send you coupons periodically and formula is expensive, so people put those in our buy nothing groups too

If you aren’t going to use it, donate it, some people really need formula. I agree though, probably from a registry

This is also an advertising tactic. They hope you try it and will buy more. Without getting too nerdy about it because I just taught my financial literacy class this so it’s like FRESH and exciting in my head, but it’s called endowment effect (basically hoping that you having the product will make you not want to lose access to product by buying more of it). It’s pretty interesting!

I got the same thing in the mail yesterday! Like others said, I’m thinking they’re linked with other registries! I’m a first time Mom who also plans on breastfeeding/pumping but happy to have it in case I need to supplement 😊

I plan on breastfeeding as well for as long as I can, but signed up for Similac and Enfimil.  I haven't gotten anything yet in the mail from either.

I did! I think it’s the hospital that does it. As part of your patient paperwork. And I only say that because mine was sent to my mom.. which does make since because I haven’t used this hospital since I was a child and all my info was the same from when I was 12 lol I had to change everything. You can donate the formula though

Pretty sure they are linked to amazon baby registries. I got the exact thing last pregnancy but not this one…yet. Only difference was my registries.

A company prob sold your info to similac.  I’d save it for now just in case this baby has trouble with breastfeeding. Then give it away otherwise.  But I don’t think it’s uncommon you got it!  I’ve gotten several sample boxes and never signed up.
