Questionable daycare decision 🤔

I try really hard to not be a helicopter mom and not to stress the small stuff…. But I can’t help but be slightly upset with my daycare provider at the moment .

I went to pick up my daughter (who is two) today and as she was walking up to me she was spitting a bunch and wiping her mouth. She had just gotten done eating lunch so I figured maybe she ate something she didn’t care for. The provider said “yeah so the kids wouldn’t keep their hands out of their mouth today so I put bitter nail polish on their nails, that’s why she is spitting”

….. not cool.

She won’t stop spitting, constantly drooling, and even gaging over the taste. I ran her to the bathroom scared she would vomit at one point.

I have washed her hands multiple times and since that was not working I even tried nail polish remover with no luck.

Am I over reacting?

Also, any other ways to remove this from her nails?
