Installing car seat but straps wont reach hooks on top of car?

Question

I have a Honda Civic 2016, both car seats we have only have the length to hook as traditional on bottom seat hooks. My hooks are at the top of the seat and the belt will not reach to secure, it is too short. What do I do? What can I buy I don’t know what I need to buy or where to find it.

The latch behind the seat is only for forward facing. 
For a newborn seat, the latches are located at the crease of the civic’s seats where the seat belts buckle. If your car does not have the latches (some cars don’t), you install the infant seat using the civic’s seat belt. 
Full instructions are in the car seat manual and small step by step is located on the seat. 
You should never need to buy external parts. It compromises the safety of the seat.

Any forward facing seat should have a strap down the back that can easily reach the top of the car. Mine go around the seat all the way into the rear of my suv.  I would say you either don't have forward facing seats or are looking at the wrong strap.

What kind of seat are you trying to install? Infant seat or next stage? European pathway or US? Could you use a base?

You can install using the seat belt. Read your car manual and your car seat manual.
