Is anybody an independent contractor?

Question

There is a job I am interested in (because I can work from home) but the thing is that you are considered an independent contractor.

What are the pros and cons of being an independent contractor?

I know you can write things off,  but I am just curious..

Cons: sometimes there might be certain sales you have to make for example you have to sell x amount of product by x amount of days or your not going to be able to continue selling that. Some pros are that if you sell x amount in x amount of time they help you with getting cars, houses and other awesome things, so while you won't get benefits (401K, health, and etc.) you'll get people that are usually more than willing to help you!

Independent contractors usually have a lot of flexibility on when and how they work.

You can write off a lot of "business expenses"

Cons

Taxes are not taken out of your paycheck each time so you usually have to pay taxes when you file your returns. You do not receive W-2s, you get a 1099. You pay more in SS and Medicare "taxes."

These positions usually do not come with benefits. You are kinda self-employed so you have to arrange your own insurance etc. You cannot collect worker's comp, unemployment, you are not entitled to FMLA protections and the like...

You do not usually get paid overtime

Set your own hours, lots of right offs cons trying set aside money for taxes each time you pay yourself without spending it first lol
