Any piercers here? Daith piercing: normal or no?

Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I have this daith piercing that I’ve had for at least 5 years now. It’s constantly looking like this. A bump that’s always sore and always has that crusty stuff near the holes of the piercing. Sometimes the bump gets bigger and sometimes it goes away, but then it comes right back. I’ve never taken it out because it’s a pain in the ass to unscrew those little balls at the ends. Someone please let me know if I should just remove it or if anyone has tips on how to stop the bump from coming and going. Thank you!

I got mine done and they had a similar little bump and crusties all the time! I would clean them regularly and it drove me nuts! I finally took them out after about 2 years and the bumps went away.

Have you gone to the shop and asked about it? It shouldn’t be doing that if you’ve had it for five years. It could be the kind of body jewelry that you have in it. If you’re real sensitive to certain metals I would recommend ASTM F-138 certified implant grade stainless steel, ASTM F-136 certified implant grade titanium,  Niobium, and 18 karat solid gold. The titanium, niobium, and gold is best in regard to it having better reaction even when met with bodily fluids and doesn’t have nickel in it. But, I’d definitely recommend trying to get in contact with the piercer that did the piercing, just so they can have a look at it and tell you what you need to do to get the irritation down.

I have a cartilage piercing that get irritated and  looks like that sometimes. I usually take the jewelry out and soak it in alcohol. And clean my ear with alcohol and put some bio oil on it. H2Ocean is my other choice for cleaning it. This combination seems to make the most difference for me. I would recommend changing the jewelry to something a bit easier to remove and clean regularly. My ear doesn't get irritated as often when I remember to remove my jewelry and clean it once a week.

It doesn’t look like a keloid at all. It may be irritated from the hoop, I would try a stud for a while. I’m not sure of the page but you could look up the piercing discs that help with irritation bumps like that. Definitely not a keloid though
