Dropping naps?

Question

At what age did your kids drop naps all together?
Normally our kid is completely out by 1pm.
Today he wouldn't go down, he didn't seem tired either.
So I tried again at 3pm.
And it's now 5pm.
It's not like we've been just inactive, he walked to the store, played with some kids..
He's only 14 months 🤔

I would keep his routine the same, continue with usual nap time. He will likely fall back into schedule. I would give it 2 weeks-if he doesn’t nap for 2 weeks straight even when u keep the normal schedule, then it may be time to drop it. But he’s still very young to go without a nap. They go thru phases of not wanting to nap every now and then so I definitely wouldn’t drop the nap until he consistently doesn’t go down for it for 2 weeks in a row or more. Mine is about to turn 3 and still takes. 2 hour nap because I’ve stuck with it.

Keep offering. It's a phase. It's important to maintain naps for as long as needed and that's typically around 3 years old. Learning to hang out for quiet time is good too even if he doesn't nap.

My first son stopped napping completely at 15 months. 
My second son is 3 and naps maybe once a week. He was taking a nap every day until around 2.5. 
My third son is 15 months old. He still naps, sometimes once a day and sometimes twice a day.

My daughter is almost 3 and still has 1 nap. I just keep the routine because we tried dropping the last nap but she was horribly cranky for hours before bedtime and wouldn’t want to eat, play, or anything. So even if she fights it we still stick to nap time and she eventually falls asleep

My son started trying to give up naps at 20m. He didn't take any naps for over a month. He's almost 3 and sometimes he naps and sometimes he doesn't, but he has quiet time in his room every day regardless.

My daughter is 2.5 (will be 3 in January) and she's now just starting to not nap consistently every day. We do give quiet time during what would be her nap. She also goes to daycare and with the kids back in school she gets really excited to see them if they are home now so she won't nap. Both of my best friends kids stopped napping altogether at a year old

Around that time my daughter went about 8 days straight of no nap.   Then she picked it back up.  So it might just be a little phase.   She’s 19 months now and still taking one from about 1130-130pm.

My son dropped his nap a few months after turning 2. We tried to keep it for months. He started fighting just before turning 2. I continued to have him lay down, have quiet time until it got shorter and shorter and we tried without it completely. To my surprise, he started sleeping better at night and having better moods overall. However, I think 14 months is too young and you should still encourage the actual sleeping during nap time. Maybe you just need to adjust the schedule alittle. It’s quite normal to go through sleep change phases. I would suggest you stay consistent and he will likely go back to the routine. My son has always been on the lesser end of the sleep amount recommendations. He dropped to one nap at 10 months. Everyone thought and still thinks we are crazy. We’ve been told he will have a hard time in preschool and kindergarten because all the other kids will nap. I don’t know because we aren’t there yet. But right now, it works for us. He sleeps the best he ever has at night and like I said before, has better overall more even tempered moods. Even still, for your child, I think 14 months is too early and would keep trying for quite some time before dropping it.

My son is two and he has been refusing naps lately too. I keep putting him down at his usual naptime until he finally falls asleep. I tell him I'm not coming back in until after his nap. Obviously 14 months is still young to try and tell them these things, so just keep trying and try to be consistent. Don't take them out because they'll think if they persist you'll take them out. But I did have to lay there and hold his hand a few times until he finally fell asleep. It shall pass.

My dusghter won't sleep when she's overtired. Like it can take more than an hour to get her to take the one nap she's on because she's just passed her window.
But she still needs it. I spend an hour and 15 minutes to make her nap today. Worth it! Saved the rest of the day. But she refused for a long time. Because she was excited or overtired.
