any remedies to help a newborn with mucus?

she couldn’t breathe this morning, she was coughing and gasping for air, and I pulled so much mucus from her mouth. It just kept coming.

yes she was taken to hospital, but tested negative for everything. They said she was okay. really didn’t say much but to use a baby nasal thing, and maybe some saline drops.

but did anything help your babies in particular ?? I’m a first time mom so of course I freak out over everything. she’s only a week old!

I have 2 cats, so I don’t know if that is bothering her. just looking for ANY answers!

I have a humidifier, that I’m going to put in our room for her too!
