What’s makes the dr want to induce you?

I see a lot of inductions happening which makes me hopeful my dr will suggest that! I don’t have any health issues so I’m not sure he would. Is induction done by medication. It’s just really interesting to me.

Being induced is more painful and carries more risk of further medical intervention so not sure why anyone would actively want to be induced unless there is a medical need to be that outweighs the cons of being induced

This is my fourth baby and fourth induction. I have been overdue with all of my babies and am a good candidate for inductions because I progress well with them (not everyone does). My inductions have all been same day delivery (induced at 730am, delivered at 10:04pm, 3:04pm,  and 3:58pm)if there is no medical reason, most doctors normally will not induce earlier then 40 weeks.

I was medically induced with my 2nd pregnancy at 38 weeks & 3rd pregnancy at 37 weeks because I had IUGR which is a growth restriction where my babies weren’t growing as they should. My first I went into labor naturally . All 3 labors for me were super quick , easy with no complications. Being induced did make the labor pains a lot stronger though . Most of the time drs induce for medical reason for the safety of mother & baby .

I’m getting induced at week 39 because I have GD, and my doctor said that if I were to go too long the placenta will start to disintegrate, and also my little girl might get too big (she’s still measuring at 50th percentile right now, but you never know!)

I got induced with pitocin on my first pregnancy. My water broke on its own, but I wasn't having contractions. They told me baby needed to be out in 24 hours otherwise the risk of infection increases. I could have waited a bit, but chose to be induced. Labour still took 12 hours after I was induced, so I was glad I made the choice to be induced. I'm hoping my body knows what to do this time and I dont need to be induced.

I’m being induced Thursday bc I got sick with Covid and it messed with my placenta making it weak.

If you’re a first timer and don’t have any health concerns or concerns about baby then they won’t offer(and probably won’t agree) to induce you before 41 weeks, as induction does increase your risk of needing more interventions and can be hard on the baby. 
People who have had previous babies are more likely to be able to be induced because they already have information on how your labours go, like for me I plan on being induced a few days before 40weeks because we live so far away from the hospital and my babies(this is #4) come out fast, and each baby has come earlier, #1 came at 41+3, baby 2 came at 40+4 and baby 3 came at midnight on his due date. I expect labour to start sometime in the week before my due date, I have a hotel booked close to the hospital for that week just in case, and if not then I will be induced at term.

Induction is usually because of medical reasons or if due date has passed and there may be a risk of baby ingesting meconium. I was induced on my first and personally wouldn't wish it on anyone. My first was induction and epidural. My second was natural and no pain relief, I much preferred the second even though painful. The induction pain was awful

This will be my third time being induced due to high blood pressure. I don’t mind being induced but hate getting the process started haha. I go in the night before and get the bulb and then labor at home while it does it’s job. Go in next morning where they break my water (which is so painful for me) and start me on pitocin. Labor, get epidural, baby is born. Mine are pretty mellow and smooth but I know it’s not that way for a lot of women. Neither of my previous labors ended up in csection. Wouldn’t be induced if I didn’t have to and my dr is pretty good at not intervening unless it’s absolutely medically necessary.

I’m being induced because baby boys growth has slowed and dipped, he is measuring 8oz smaller than he was going to roughly be from all the previous scans, shows on the Graph the slight dip.

Im consultant led due to having covid at 29 weeks and they wanted to ensure I received extra scans for growth which I’m glad they did.. I’m measuring about a 1/2 weeks behind which 4 weeks ago I was on point. I’m also 40 weeks tomorrow so my consultant thinks it’s safer and easier to induce me on Thursday at 40+2
