Too early for positive?

I am 8 days post ovulation, and now 5 days before my "missed period". I have been experiencing breast soreness, and major heat flashes. I took a test today and could not see any faint lines, but curious if I am checking too soon? I used first response early detection. Any input would be super helpful! Thank you!
