Boyfriend isn't proud of me??

I've been dating my boyfriend for 6 months and his family doesn't know about me. He told me they do know about me but they don't. I've started to pay more attention. For example, when we are hanging out and his parents call him he never says he's with me. 
I did ask him if he's told them and he hasn't. He says he wants to introduce me properly. But that's dumb in my opinion. Why does he make it a big deal for my family to know about him then?
I completely understand that we haven't been dating a long time but I think they should at least know I'm in the picture. Right?

It’s weird that he’s lie and say he told them when he didn’t. It’s weird he won’t tell them but insists you tell your family about him. We were at a family gathering yesterday when I overheard my mother in law telling her sister, "We didn't know Lily existed until a year after they started dating." I immediately looked at her and said, "What! Are you serious? My parents knew about J almost right away." I went on to explain that he met them before he was mentally ready to after I had been in the emergency room and he came to visit me at their house the next day. Our cousin in law even said that she told her mother when she was about to go on a date with J's cousin that night. My mother in law's sister said, "That's the difference between men and women." She went on to say that we're more likely to discuss our relationships with our mothers sooner than men are.

I agree with many of the comments meeting someone's family should be a big deal so if he hasn't introduced you yet he has his reason and you shouldn't push him on it because you don't know what the future holds...just enjoy your relationship and if he feels it's getting serious then I'm sure he will introduce you then but for now take your time and just be happy I didn't meet my husband's family until we were serious enough for him to ask me to go live with him and that's when he took me to meet his family is when I said yes to moving in...meeting family adds a little stress and nerves because it's a big deal it's his family the people who raised him to be who he is so cherish what you have

6 months is not that long. If it were like a few years or you were already engaged or something then I would understand but 6 months is nothing.
