Epidural ?

So I’ve heard great epidural stories & some not so great stories, but my question is if the pain is too much for you and you get an epidural do they gradually increase the amount given throughout your labor? Or is it just a one time dosage? Because I hear some women say it worked perfectly but then wore off before it was time to push 😩

When I had an epidural I could ask for it to be increased if needed and they pushed a button.

I only had one dose. I didn’t get a button, and I never needed another dose. Apparently the anesthesiologist got the epidural in the perfect spot because I was completely numb for 4-5 hours, I didn’t even feel the pushing sensation, or literally anything at all like other women say they can

Honestly I thought I might’ve been able to go through labor without it but something told me to get epidural. Thank God I did. My baby was almost 9 lbs & gave me 3rd degree tearing. I didn’t feel anything but just pressure when he came out. I didn’t even feel when they stitched me.

Let me start with saying I felt nothing during labor accept feeling like I had to shit. But the man who did my epidural was terrible. He wouldn’t let me sit up during contractions even before the needle went in. I was sobbing so bad my husband was about to rip this guys head off. Then he fucked up the first one and he had to stab me again. -10

My epidural was on a drip, so it was constantly slowly injecting into my back. However I did get a button that injected an Extra dose of epidural stuff into my back and then continue back on the slow continuous drip.

I got a button to push when I needed it, and they refilled it twice I think throughout my labor. Before the epidural I was physically sick from the contractions, but afterwards I didn't feel a thing until I needed to push and then it was just intense pressure. Thanks to the epidural I didn't even feel the stitches being put in and I had a 2nd degree tear.

I had one and i was able to sleep like a baby 😆 but then hours later i feel a little pain on the other side so they did it again i think.... but when i was pushing... i dont think the epidural helps anymore because i felt like a hot water flowing inside me.. idk.. i ended up e c section. I had one with my first and it wore off about 2 hours before I started to push and I tried to get one with my second  and they tried and failed 3 times so I went all Natural with her and after those 2 experiences  im not getting one this time.

I was given the opportunity to push the button whenever I needed to increase my dosage. I had asked if I could give myself a dose before I started pushing and I was allowed to. They coached me for when a contraction would occur until I “felt” when to push and then they no longer told me.
