If we have a girl , middle name would either be my middle name or my mother in law. Is it wrong I like my middle name more ?

I don’t even know how to decide. It really only matters if we have a girl, and it’s sweet my husband wants to honor his mom. But ... I’ve always wanted to do a family name too. I feel like it’s kind of fair because our kid automatically gets his last name because I took his last name when we wed. Ugh! So hard to decide.

Personally I stay away from family names unless they are directly from myself or my husband, or if the family member is already passed. 
My Hubby and I are both really close to our own parents. I don’t want to open the can of worms when we start selecting which family members to honor 😂

I HATE using family names. I had the first born granddaughter and grandson on my side and used 0 family names. I wont be using any if/when we have #3 either.

I was thinking of naming my daughter with a first name then my middle name and then my mother-in-law's name. It's nice to know that other people think like me too 😊

I’ve always wanted to name my sons middle name after my dads middle name. He passed away when I was in first grade, so our kids will never have a chance to meet him. I do see this potentially upsetting other family members, but I would hope that at the end of the day they would understand. So if your husband has a similar situation, I get it…. I also get not wanting to feel like you’re picking favorites and excluding others.

We used my MILs middle name, which was also her moms middle name. But, we also incorporated my moms middle name into the first name. Never even considered using my own, but I’m not in love with it either.
