Pretty sure he wants money from me

OK been hooking up with this dude for a good month now and we don't know each other like at all literally just sex. But I have this feeling he wants money he had told me he was short on money for a plane ticket and well he had messaged asking for a favor and Idk I'm feeling very anxious giving me ex bf vibes and I don't fucking know how to defend myself as idiotic as that sounds just because I get scared and I'm scared of how he'll react... I don't even want to open his message.
